A Heartfelt Thank You from the Connétable

On Saturday, 2 November 2024, the Parish of St. Saviour held its annual coffee morning in support of the Royal British Legion (RBL). We were honoured to have His Excellency, the Lieutenant Governor Vice Admiral Kyd and Lady Kyd as our special guests. This year, with no flight disruptions, we were also delighted to welcome Chelsea Pensioner Barrie Tudor Williams to our event.

I would like to extend a very big thank you to our incredible team of volunteers who managed the refreshments and baked delicious cakes. A special thanks goes to the RBL for setting up the poppy stall and their assistance with this event and to Geoff Morris for showcasing his impressive display of Jersey coinage issued to commemorate this year’s appeal, as well as previous years and other significant coins.

A sincere thank you also to the pupils of St. Luke’s School for their beautiful artwork that added warmth and colour to the hall. And, of course, my gratitude to everyone who attended and supported this worthy cause.

A total of £174 was raised at the coffee morning, not including any additional donations for poppies or memorabilia, which are sent directly to the RBL Jersey office.

Finally, I encourage everyone to take a moment on Armistice Day to pause for a two-minute silence. It is an opportunity for us all to reflect on the service and sacrifices made by the Armed Forces on our behalf.

Yours sincerely,

Kevin C. Lewis
