The annual returns for 2026 have now been sent to all owners of land, houses, buildings and other structures within St. Saviour. Annual returns must be returned  by 15th January 2026. Any owner who has not received a notice should contact the Connétable immediately.

Recycling your Christmas Wrapping Paper

As the festive season approaches, it’s important to know which types of wrapping paper are accepted in your St. Saviour collection. 

The Scrunch Test

To determine if your wrapping paper can be recycled, perform the scrunch test: 

Scrunch the paper tightly in your hand. 

If it stays scrunched, it is recyclable and can go into your recycling bin. 

If it springs back open, it is not recyclable and should be placed in your general waste

Christmas Cans and Cants

It’s important to only recycle materials that can be recycled, especially with the extra high volumes of paper and such around Christmas. Recycling correctly ensures that recyclable items are properly processed and reduces waste sent to the incinerator.

If non-recyclable items are mixed in, they can contaminate the batch, making it harder to recycle correctly and sometimes resulting in the entire load being sent to landfill or incineration.
