Parish Rate 2025 Now Set
At the Parish Assembly held on 14 July 2025, the Parish rate for this year was officially agreed. The rate for 2025 has been set at 1.59 pence per quarter, and when combined with the Island Wide Rate (IWR), this represents a modest increase of just 2.4%.
It’s important to note that the Parish of St Saviour does not set the Island Wide Rate. This rate is determined and presented to the States Assembly by the Comité des Connétables, and it must reflect the March Retail Price Index (RPI) each year, as required under the Rates (Jersey) Law 2005.
How Are Your Parish Rates Used?
Do you know what your rates contribute to?
Your Parish rates help fund the essential services that keep our community running smoothly, including:
- Maintenance and repair of parish roads and drainage systems
- General administration and municipal operations
- Refuse and recycling services
- Support for the Parish Church and community activities
- Contributions to policing and public safety
This year, the Parish anticipates collecting a combined total of over £4.7 million in rates. However, it’s important to understand that over £1.9 million—approximately 45%—must be paid to the Treasurer of the States of Jersey to support Income Support. The Parish receives no compensation for collecting these funds; the cost of collection is entirely borne by the Parish and ultimately by ratepayers.
A Commitment to Responsible Management
The Connétable, Procureurs, Accounts Committee, and Executive Officer recognise the ongoing pressures of Jersey’s high cost of living. They have worked hard to set a rate that covers essential costs while maintaining high standards of service for parishioners. We thank them for their continued commitment to fiscal responsibility and to ensuring the Parish’s financial sustainability.
