STORM AUSTEN PARISH SERVICES UPDATE

Update: 23 October 2026 15:59

Storm Austen – Parish Update & Thank You

The Parish continues to monitor conditions following Storm Austen and is now moving into the recovery phase.

A sincere thank you to our Parish staff, Honorary Police, volunteers and parishioners for the resilience, professionalism and community spirit shown throughout the storm.

Our teams have worked hard to respond to fallen debris, road and property issues, while supporting the wider Island response. We are equally grateful to residents who have reported problems, assisted responsibly and shown patience while disruption has been managed.

As recovery work continues, our Highways and operational teams will remain active across the Parish, clearing affected roads, responding to hazards and addressing outstanding issues as safely and quickly as possible.

Well done, St Saviour — and thank you to everyone who has played their part.

🚛 REFUSE & RECYCLING COLLECTIONS

Friday’s scheduled refuse collection has been deferred and will now take place on Monday morning.

Please ensure waste and recycling bins are securely positioned so that they cannot be blown into roads, footpaths or other public areas.

🌿 🛠️ HIGHWAYS & PARISH PROPERTY SERVICES

Our Highways and operational teams will continue to monitor conditions. From tomorrow morning we aim to continue to: undertake:

  • clear fallen branches and debris from Parish roads;
  • undertake street cleaning where required;
  • inspect affected gullies and drainage points;
  • check Parish public spaces and property; and
  • respond to hazards affecting pedestrians and road users.

Our operatives will not be deployed into unsafe conditions. Some issues may therefore need to wait until conditions allow work to be undertaken safely.

The Highways response will continue into the weekend where required, subject to live conditions and ongoing safety assessments.

🌧️ LANDOWNERS, OCCUPIERS & BUSINESSES

Please continue to ensure that waste and recycling bins, commercial containers, signage, garden furniture and other loose items are securely stored or restrained, particularly where they are close to roads, footpaths or public areas.

👮 HONORARY POLICE – DUTY CENTENIER: 07797 716661

The Honorary Police will continue to provide support where required. However, we will not place our volunteers at unnecessary risk, and attendance may need to be delayed until conditions are safe.

For an immediate emergency or danger to life, please call 999 or 112.

The Parish will continue to monitor conditions and issue further service updates if necessary.

Thank you for your continued cooperation, patience and support.
