CLEAR BAG for PLASTIC and METAL

It’s essential to be mindful of what you can and cannot recycle to ensure the effectiveness of our recycling program. Here’s a breakdown of what you can and cannot recycle:

  • Detergent & soap bottles
  • Cleaning product bottles
  • Skin care plastic bottles
  • Shampoo & shower get bottles
  • single use drinks bottles
  • bottle tops & lids
  • Drinks cans, food tins (put lids inside the tin)
  • Biscuit & chocolate tins & lids
  • Aerosols (empty)
  • Metal lids e.g. jam jar lids
  • Aluminium foil
  • Aluminium tubes e.g. tomato puree
  • Metal pet food containers (rinsed)

NO THANKS

  • Bottle pumps
  • Plastic pots
  • Plastic trays
  • Plastic tubs
  • Laminated foil e.g. cat food & coffee pouches that spring back when you scrunch them
  • Crisp & sweet packets or wrappers
  • Metal containers for chemicals e.g. white spirits & paints
  • General kitchen ware e.g. cutlery, pots & pans
  • Other metal items e.g. kettles, irons, pipes and large appliances

What happens if you put the wrong items in your bin?

Everybody makes mistakes and we appreciate that, but it is really important that we only collect the correct items in the blue bin. If we don’t our processing partner cannot deal with it and it can damage other items meaning they cannot be recycled and ultimately costs us. 


We take a pro-active stance on reducing the wrong items in our scheme [contamination], this is done through stickers on BAGS.

Our collection crews reject and tag BAGS if they have the wrong items in, Bags will not be collected if they are not used correctly.

This is applied throughout the Parish and protects all residents who do their bit.
