Nominations Meeting for Members of the Roads Committee and Roads Inspectors

As you may be aware, the Parish is scheduled to hold a Parish Assembly on 7th December 2020 at 6:30 pm to receive nominations for upcoming vacancies for Members of the Roads Committee and for Roads Inspectors.

In light of recent announcements by the Government of Jersey and the new strict measures/guidelines to combat the spread of COVID-19, the Connétable has concluded that it is not safe or practicable to ask parishioners to attend an Assembly to elect members to the Parish Roads Committee and Roads Inspectors at this time.

In order to meet legal requirements, a Parish Assembly will be held at 6.30 pm on 7th December 2020 to receive nomination for posts as member of the Roads Committee and as Roads Inspectors. If the number of candidates does not exceed the number of vacancies there will be no need for an election and the candidates will automatically appointed.

If there are more candidates than there are vacancies an election will be required. Because the current COVID restrictions make it impossible to hold a free and fair election at this time the election will be postponed until a date yet to be determined in April 2021.

In the case of a postponed election, it is hoped that the current Roads Committee and Roads Inspectors will continue in office until the election can take place.

We hope that by April 2021 a planned vaccination programme will have commenced and infection rates will have considerably reduced.

Parishioners wishing to attend the Assembly, either in person or remotely, via “Zoom”, should contact the Parish Hall (01534 735864) in advance to register.
